The post today regarding my sweet little princess, Qhayra Adelia Rania, 1 year and 10 months. The photo were taken this morning in conjunction with Hari Raya Haji celebration at her grandparent's home. Since her birth nearly 2 years ago, this is the first documentation of herself in this blog.

Wedding: Ema & Bad (2)

2 June 2012 was a big day for Nor Shima. While waiting for her beloved husband, she managed to pose for the camera. Of course they have their own official wedding photographer, but the big event was an opportunity for me to polish my skill and talent. May be I will be a wedding photographer in the future, who knows....?

Wedding: Ema & Bad

2 June 2012 was a memorable day for Nor Shima and Mohd Badarul Hisyam as it was the day that both of them were announced as husband and wife.

The 'akad nikah' was carried out at the bride's home after Asar prayer. 

The wedding ring as a symbol of their promises that they will be together till the end of time....

Acceptance of the 'nikah' that tied them together.... witnessed by families and friends 

Newly wed couple....

Hope to be happy till the end...

As family members, we also pray for their happiness....

Aperture f/1.8

Assalamualaikum,

Recently I bought a prime lens Canon EF f/1.8 II (a cheap prime lens with wide aperture). People say that thus prime lens is most suitable for portrait photography. With a wide aperture, shallow depth of field can easily be obtained.

These two photos are the sample of photos taken using the prime lens.

Portrait: Colleague

Assalamualaikum,

This photo is one of my best shots for the time being. It is a good combination of subject, emotion, composition and lighting: a good timing (if not perfect...hehehe). The photo was taken about a month ago. Taking advantage of the natural lighting, the bright sky outside provide the main soft lighting from her left, enhanced her facial features.

Portrait: Children 2

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.

I am back! After about a week without updating this photoblog, now I am back..! (Arnold always say this... hehehe..)

The topic today is about portrait. The photos below were taken 2 days ago. He is my nephew, Muhammad Irfan Naim, 1 1/2 years. He was standing at the grilled door, looking at me while I was photographing something else. His look was innocent with his bright eyes, maybe wondering what I was doing at that time. Or.... maybe he was missing his dad as the father was currently outstation somewhere. Or.... maybe he wants to tell me to open the gate for him to venture out....

The source of light was at my left, from outside of the door, in contrast with the dimmed surrounding inside, thus creating interesting portrait of him.   

Maybe he was wondering what happened at the outside....

Portrait: Children

Portrait photography normally focused on taking photos of people. In this photography concentrations are always given to the face, where not only the images are captured but also the emotions. Good portrait photography will emphasize on the emotions shown by the subject; happy, anger, sad, etc.

When photograph children, they do not bother to pose for the camera, so we have to be patient and look for the precise moment to release the shutter as children are spontaneous and natural...   

To take a portrait photograph, I used the biggest aperture possible, bring the subject out of the background (make the background blur) and concentrate on the subject.

This photo of Muhammad Danish Iman was taken in November 2010 at Langkawi Island while he was playing with the rabbits.

For close-up portrait, focus on the eyes. Not sure what he was thinking at that moment...

The eyes

The eye, is the window for our inner soul to see the world. We feel connected to the outside world through our eyes. The light beamed into our eyes, through the iris and sensed by the retina, then interpreted by the mind. If we shut-off the window, the connection to the visual worlds outside is terminated temporarily.

The eye, is also the window from outside into the inner soul. People say, we can see the heart by looking through the eyes. We can see the anger, the sorrow, the happiness, the love, the passion; by looking through the eyes, down into the heart.
