Close-up: Flora

Assalamualaikum,

Close-up photography is one of my favorite field as I like to observe the details of the subject in which usually ignored. It is also one of the easiest, especially for static subject.

The aperture was set to the biggest the lens can provide, to get nice bokeh of the background and isolated the subject from the surrounding.

A new hope....

The end of an episode...?
Thank you.

A journey... the 'blue' sky

Assalamualaikum,

It was during my journey from Klang to Johor, when I noticed the 'vivid' blue color of the sky. Sometimes I wonder how our camera record the light that make-up the photographs. My technical knowledge was very limited especially on the electrical and electronic items that have a lot of jargons. As far as I know, the electronics chip 'works' based on machine language: 0 and 1. However, as the technology advanced with the cumulative efforts of many people, now we can have our digital camera, slightly different from the film camera that we have in the last decades.

Subsequently, the most wonder that came to my mind was how our eyes see the color of the world around us. It is a miracle that Allah s.w.t. has given us, as one of His blessing upon the people on the earth. However, this 'gift' is also a test for human being, in which will be questioned on how we use His gift.

So, be prepared with your answer... a reminder for myself also...

The following photos are pictures of the sky. I changed and modified a bit on the 'color scheme'...

Please enjoy the photos...

Thank you.

Food...

Actually I do not have enough idea to post in this entry. However, I would like to share some photos of food that was taken about a month ago during a wedding ceremony.

Zooming effect

Assalamualaikum,

Today I would like to share something that I learnt yesterday.

In the early days, when photographers were using film as the medium for storing imaged captured by their camera, the skills of handling and creating the shots are the most important as they will only see the results of their attempts and skills after producing the photographs in the lab. Thus, the results of photos will depends on the planning and skills that being implemented.

However nowadays, the situation has changed. Most of the photographs were produced digitally and can be manipulated using many software available in the market. For this, the skill of photo-editing is playing an important role as well in producing good photographs.

The following picture was captured earlier in a normal mode. However, using Photoshop, I managed to add zooming effect to the photos. In reality, to actually applying 'zooming effect' need high skills, steady hands and a lot of practices to perfect the skills. I have tried them, but still didn't get the 'touch'.

For the time being, may be I just use Photoshop, while at the same time keep practicing the technique.

Thank you.

Cloud and Moon

Assalamualaikum,

The following photographs were taken last night when the full moon was partially covered with fairly thin clouds. After several attempts, using different exposure and ISOs, finally I got the photograph of the moon that I wanted.

Zoomed at 200mm, I used ISO800 and exposure of 1/15 seconds for the first photo and 1/20 seconds for the second photo.

Photo of the moon, cropped at 50%

Modification on the 'hue' and saturation gave different effect of the moon.
 Please enjoy the photos.

Thank you.

False-coloured

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.,

Some photos might look plain and not interesting. However, if we change the color scheme a bit as well as the mood of the photo, things might be changed.

These photos were taken during my visit to Tasik Taiping in Perak.Originally they might be just plain photographs and nothing interesting. However, using Photoshop CS3 as the tools to modify the color, the mood were changed.

Thank you for visiting.

Fireworks: 1 Jan 2012

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.,

Today is 1 January 2012. As usual, at 00.00.00 midnight of 31 Dec 2011, many people went out to see the fireworks event held to mark the change of the year from 2011 to 2012.

Last night was my first attempt to capture fireworks event that marked the beginning of Year 2012. I left home at about 2315 with my motorcycle. I preferred motorcycle as I heard earlier that the road and highway might be jammed. To my surprise, I was caught in a heavy jammed as many vehicles were on the road towards where I was going to. The traffic jam was massive, and policemen were working hard in controlling the traffic.

I reached the site at 2340, being delayed by the traffic jam in contrast to the usual expected travelling time that I will manage to get there in about 10 minutes with normal traffic. I parked at the side of Federal Highway, near to Sungai Rasau Toll Plaza, facing I-City in which the fireworks will be held. After setting-up the camera and pre-focus the scene, I waited. There were many other photographers with their gadget, already waiting for the event.

At about 00.00.00 midnight, suddenly the fireworks started, shooting towards the dark night sky with its tremendous sparks and thunder. At the first shot, I used 20" exposure with 22 aperture no. and ISO100. Then I changed to 8" exposure time with the same setting for the rest (to get more shots as I don't want to cramp everything in just 1 shot).

It was beautiful trail of light with black night sky as the background.  The crowd were full with cheers looking up into the sky. However, the event only last for several minutes and I heard some of the crowd expressed their frustration. Maybe it doesn't worth with the traffic jam that they need to face to come to the site.

For me, mission accomplished, and I started my journey back home. Here are some of the photos to be shared. Please enjoy the photos.

Thank you.
