Happy faces on the rock slope

Assalamualaikum w.b.t,

On 15 Feb 2012, we did our refresher training for the rope access technique. For this time being, on the real rock slope surface.

Accending and decending on the rock slope is slightly different from what we were trained before. Many things need to be evaluated and considered before starting the activities. All are related to the safety aspects. Protection to the rope that being used as well as protection to the personnel involved.

After setting up all the anchor points and satisfied with all preparation, I led the decend to down slope. This photo was shot by Muhammad Fakhar, my colleague.

Second decender, Fajrul. So eager with the new experience...

Happy face of Yakob...

Awangku Hisyam... thumb-up

Encik Mansor....

Che Ruslan... full of energy...

Fauzi was our last decender. This photo was shot after my ascending to the top....

Fauzi while ascending up. Notice the ascender he was using...?

The sun was hot and burning. However, all participant were happy with the activities that marks our experiences. Please enjoy the photos.

Thank you.

Rope access

Assalamualaikum,

Working at height is always challenging and dangerous. Therefore, proper Personel Protective Equipment (PPE) is necessary for any personal working at height as a protection measure from falling.

However, being equipped with all the safety gadgets is only half of the safety requirement. Training is necessary to ensure competency of the personnel in using the equipment. So, those are our activities yesterday.

Pantai Remis: the sun set...

Assalamualaikum,

The following are the sunset photos at Pantai Remis. The sky was cloudy, hiding the sun from our view. I had  to wait until the end while pointing the lens toward the horizon when suddenly the sun emerged from the cloudy sky and shining its reddish color... the event only lasted for several minutes before it completely hiding below the horizon....

Pantai Remis: a man and the sea

Assalamualaikum,

Strolling along the beach, we can see many human activities, spending time on the beach with family and friends, away from their busy daily schedules.

It is a shallow sandy beach mixed with mud, with a lot of sea-shells stranded on the beach. The muddy water discourage people from playing in the water, except for a bunch of kids having fun and some local people looking for fish and clams. I saw a man about 50m from the shoreline with his net. The water just at his knee. While he was spreading his net to catch some fish, I took several photographs of him from far.

Please enjoy the photos.

Thank you.

Pantai Remis: seashells

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.

A friend told me a few days back about Pantai Remis which is located not far from my home. Actually, on the map, we can find two (2) Pantai Remis along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia; one in Perak and another in Selangor.

'Remis' in english is clam or shellfish. No wonder that I saw a lot of seashells along the beach. Now I remember that I had been here once, back in 1998 (if I remember correctly...). However, in those days, the beach was quiet compared nowadays.

Thank you.

Close-up: grasshopper

Assalamualaikum,

While doing close-up photography for a static subject is easy, it is a totally different case for a dinamic subject e.g. small animal or insects.

The following photos of the grasshopper were taken in early morning. Normally, it require some efforts for me to get close to this kind of subject, as the grasshopper tend to fly away to the safer place. But, maybe due to the cold surrounding, the grasshopper still inactive, need to gather the energy by absorbing the heat of the sun. Remember that insects are cold-blooded creature.

Those are opportunities that sometimes come to us... so don't loose the opportunity....

Thank you.
