Morning dew

These photos were shot about a year ago at my mother's house at Simpang Renggam. I just got my Canon EOS 1000D during that time and started my learning curve on digital photography.

The weather was cold and wet as we can see morning dew on the leaves and flowers. It was a very nice subject for photography.

Close up: moss a.k.a. algae

Assalamualaikum...

We visited Section N5 Office at the end of April 2011, in conjunction with a technical site visit by the authority as well as some lectures from one of our local University. Lucky that I brought along my EOS1000D with me. The man-made fountain at the front of the office looked nice with some moss at the edge of the running water. The mini waterfall sounds cool and refreshing... hehehe... Credit to the guy who did this landscape.  

Me and my friend took this opportunity to freeze some of the image of this man-made fountain in our DSLR's sensor. Together with my EFS 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens, I scouted near the man-made landscape to get closer view.

Building: Masjid Bandar di Raja, Klang

Assalamualaikum,

The Masjid Bandar Di Raja, Klang was fully completed and opened to Muslims several months ago. However, it was only last night that I managed to do some photography of the beautiful building.

It was 15 minutes past 10 p.m. that I arrived at Klang town (only 15 minutes drive from my house... hehehe). Not many cars on the roads, and many shop-lots were completely deserted. Only some blocks still have human activities.

However, there are still activities on the main road at the front of the masjid including 'pasar malam' activities a hundred meters away from the main gate. Many of the lights at the compound area were off, but some still shining the 'kubah' faithfully. Using my Canon EOS1000D together with the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens, here are some of the photos.

Close-up: curious little guy

Here is the photo of Irfan Naim. Slow but full of curiosity.

But believe it or not, we all were like him during our childhood days, when we know less and hunger of experience and knowledge. But now, as we are getting older, many of us had neglected this 'skill' as we normally take it for granted and just ignore our surrounding. We only focus on the 'big' things and forget how important are the 'small' things in our life.

Close-up: From Che Tom's mini garden

We meet again at the backyard of my father in-law's home. Surrounding the house, there are many flower plants blooming throughout the year. These are mini gardens belong to my mother in-law.

The day I took the photographs, the weather was cloudy. Normally when I shoot close-up photos of flowers, I set the meter to be slightly under-exposed (one stop / two stops) with the biggest apperture. With this setting, I will get a vibrant colour of the flowers and leaves with slightly dark blurred background a.k.a. bokeh.

Portrait: Colleague

Assalamualaikum,

This photo is one of my best shots for the time being. It is a good combination of subject, emotion, composition and lighting: a good timing (if not perfect...hehehe). The photo was taken about a month ago. Taking advantage of the natural lighting, the bright sky outside provide the main soft lighting from her left, enhanced her facial features.

Close up: bird

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.

Still transmitting from the backyard of my father in-law's house, Keratong 8, Muadzam Shah (actually the photos were shot there... hehehe)

Using my entry level Canon EOS1000D and cheap zoom lense EFS 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS, I intended to photograph some flowers blooming at the compound of the house. While setting my camera, a bird flew over me and landed not far away (about 2 meters from where I was sitting), just nice for me to take a shot. 

Thus, not to waste the opportunity, I quickly re-composed the camera and took some shots. All the knowledge regarding photography was forgotten, no Rule of Third, just focus and shoot..! hahaha...!  The session only lasted about 30 seconds. And here are the results:
