Landscape @ Bukit Beruntung 2

It was a year ago, in April 2010 that I came to this same spot photographing this unique landscape using compact digital camera. Now, after nearly a year, I came back to photograph the same landscape using DSLR, with two of my colleagues.

The purpose of the visit was to evaluate the area for a trial to re-vegetate the barren land. The soil is acidic (due to the existance of some mineral, not sure what type of mineral as i'm not mineralogist hehe...) where only certain species of plants can survive. However, due to no surface cover, heavy rain and surface run-off has carved the barren land into some uncommon landscape (in a mini scale).

Black mineral...

Some species however survive with difficulties..

another surviving plant in this arid land...

Erosion carved the infertile land into mini canyon....

interesting landscape

Besides the natural landscape, the actions of other photographer are also interesting to be captured.

See you all in the next post.

Nature: by the waterway

Walking along a waterway or small stream, we can see many plants which are living at the edge of the stream, with the tip of the leaves touching the surface of the water. The surrounding area are dimmed, overcast by the shadow of trees blocking the sun rays. It is good for photographing nature in a low light condition.

One of the advantages being a photographer is our ability to 'see', appreciate, freeze and record a moment of event or beauty of nature that Allah s.w.t. presented upon us. We can store the data, duplicate and refer back later. We can present the scene to our friends; in future, here or somewhere else. Even though the scene is not the actual event, but virtual in nature, we still can share with our friends.

And something struck my mind this morning!

All these are representation (in minute scale) how easy for Allah s.w.t. to present to us all our records on whatever we are doing in this world, during our trial in hereafter in the Judgement Day. Subhanallah...!! So, to all photographer out there (including me) please remember every time you snap a photo, that we are being watched and recorded, each and every second of whatever we are doing... and all will be presented upon us..!

Meanwhile, enjoy the scenes captured of the nature by the waterway...

Engineers at work 2

During our tour of duty along the Expressway, while doing inspection to the debris flow net installed, I took several photos of my colleagues doing their tasks.

The following photo is one of my favourite shot. My colleague was doing his inspection on the debris flow net. It's nearly 12 noon and the sun rays peeping in between the branches and leaves resulting vertical streak of lights beaming onto the floor of the secondary jungle.

I was at the higher ground, shooting the unprecedented scene (for me). The light reflected from the piece of paper creating soft-lighting onto his face. I focused the lense at his right hand using partial metering mode.

Details: EOS1000D, 55mm focal length, apperture 5.0, shutter 320, ISO 400, no flash

Perspective View

Our eyes work on perspective view in determining and differentiate between near and far subject. Human eyes have more or less 120 deg. perspective view as we concentrate at our front (Overlapping view between both eyes).

Linear perspective: related to visual angle as far object will appear smaller than near object observed from a point of view...

Linear perspective view where the vanishing point located far beyond the photo

Linear perspective view where the vanishing point located near or within the picture

View on the rock slope

Carrying out geotechnical assessment on a rock slope is tiring. However, things need to be done. After a brief assessment and evaluation, our team enjoying the view from the high ground while taking a rest.

Despite that, some point of view may be attractive for the lense....

Di tepi Lebuhraya (At the side of a highway)

On 9 March 2011, I went to Jelapang range for slope inspection beside a highway. Many says, there is nothing interesting along side the expressway, only green slopes and bushes. However, if we give our attention to some details, we might 'see' the 'citizen' occupying the green grass... some beautiful flowers and seeds...

Enjoy these close-up photos.....
